Hi, I’m Dan Schrader, the owner of Back Mechanics. I provide clinical-grade, deep-tissue massage therapy for the remote workforce of Bellevue, Kirkland, and Redmond. If you're dealing with a stiff neck, a locked-up lower back, or chronic pain from staring at a monitor all day... I know exactly what you are going through. I’ve been there.

From the Keyboard to the Clinic

Before I was a clinical massage therapist, I spent years as a UX Researcher for EXOS, designing premium health and fitness services for corporate clients like Google. I was a remote worker glued to a screen, dealing with the exact same chronic neck and back pain you are likely experiencing right now.

During my time at EXOS, I became fascinated by biomechanics and soft tissue work. So, when my tech career ended with a layoff, I decided to step away from the keyboard and into the clinic.

I earned my massage license and joined Olympic Sport & Spine. There, I quickly noticed a trend: I had an especially high recovery rate with patients suffering from chronic neck and back pain — specifically those working desk jobs.

I founded Back Mechanics to take that clinical success out of the waiting room, and bring it directly to your living room.

The Back Mechanics Advantage

My approach is entirely different from a traditional spa massage. When you book an in-home clinical-grade massage with me, you get three distinct advantages:

1. Physical Advantage: Reducing chronic back pain often requires sustaining moderate to very heavy pressure over long periods of time. I train hard to maintain my physical strength, which allows me to deliver the deep, consistent pressure required to actually change your tissue without my hands burning out after ten minutes.

2. Therapeutic Edge: Deep tissue doesn’t mean ignoring your comfort. I can scale my pressure from very light to incredibly heavy, and we will constantly communicate to find your 'therapeutic edge.' My goal is to work right at the upper limit of your tolerance — applying enough force to create real, structural change, but never so much that your nervous system tenses up and fights back.

3. Clinical Obsession: I don't just treat symptoms; I obsess over the mechanics of the human body. My work is heavily influenced by industry-leading biomechanics experts like Dr. Stuart McGill and Dr. Kelly Starrett.

Built for the Remote Workforce

I built Back Mechanics to be the exact solution I noticed so many of my physical therapy patients wishing they had: a no-nonsense, clinical, and highly convenient way to fix your back so you can get back to performing at your best.

Lets get you properly tuned.
